Drop in IT-related GCSE students offers little help for digital skills shortage – The Tech Partnership

This is where we, in South Africa, are missing out on such a great opportunity. There are IT skills shortages all over the world – this particular example is the UK. They have fewer students taking ICT related subjects, of which just 21% are female.
If only we (government, business, education and individuals such as myself) could get our act together and promote ICT at schools in a proactive and monitored way – we could virtually wipe out youth unemployment in the future by outsourcing – as India does.
I’ve been banging on about this for close to 20 years now – but “hope springs eternal” as Alexander Pope said.
