High Tech/High Touch: The More We Rely On Machines, The More We Need Humans

The term “high tech, high touch” was coined by John Naisbett in his 1982 book “Megatrends”.  Meaning “the more technology-driven and data-driven organizations become, the more their success depends on the people involved.”

Having lived and thrived on many iterations of technology over the years, this has proven to be true, over and over again.  Every iteration of technology has brought the technology closer and closer to people – not the technologists, but the “man in the street”.  And AI is really no different.

I liken AI to a pack of wild horses.  Some organisations are experimenting with what to do with it, and some people are treating it like a new game.  But until we truly understand its power, and harness its strength, we are going to continue underutilising it.  And we need people for that!
